Special thanks to Rooms To Go for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own.
When you become a parent, you get all kinds of unsolicited “warnings”. Say goodbye to sleep! Your kid will only eat chicken nuggets from now on! Potty training is harder than you think! But no one warns you that your living space will no longer be your own. From the moment we brought my daughter home from the hospital four years ago, she has been the head of our roost. It didn’t matter how much I resisted, toys infiltrated and slowly overtook my house like an alien virus that could not be stopped. I swear, 90% of my couch space is ‘reserved’ seating for her stuffed animals. My hallway is a labyrinth of the toys du jour that I don’t even bother to tidy up anymore. And that gorgeous light-filled breakfast nook in our kitchen never even had the chance to feature a table… it was automatically designated the munchkin’s craft area. But not for long! With the new year, brings a change. Thanks to my lovely friends at Rooms To Go, I am staging a coup and taking back what is rightfully mine. A proper seating area! It’s time for a breakfast nook upgrade, my friends.
Childless persons might read this and think it’s ridiculous. How does a set of grown adults allow for a tiny person to take over every corner of the house?! To which I say ‘Oh, you naive, well-rested person with a disposable income!’ Here is exactly how this tiny dictator conquers your space: First, the baby drains you of all will power and creativity by utilizing their greatest, multi-faceted weapon… sleep deprivation. Seriously, 3 years straight of no more than 4 hours of sleep at a time and you are essentially at the mercy of baby shark and her minions… do do do do doodo. Minions, you say? Yes! The baby comes with built-in minions. You might know them by their more common names: Grandma and Grandpa. That miniature tyrant first breaks you down with sleep deprivation and then uses their baby wiles on the grandparents to secure a steady stream of useless junk into the household. But no more! I’m sick of drinking my morning coffee at a table built for people under 4 feet tall! So with my eye on the gorgeous dining tables at Rooms To Go, here’s what I did to change my situation in 2020…
First, I took inventory of the space. This was the area I was going to reclaim and all it was really going to take was resolve. So with impenetrable resolve (and earplugs for the tantrum), I moved all this stuff into my daughter’s room. Craft time is now happening in her own space. Boom! I measured the space and moved onto Phase 2.
Next, I dropped my daughter off a preschool, indulged in a sugary coffee, and headed over to my local Rooms To Go. With caffeine and independence coursing through my veins, I leisurely perused their gorgeous showroom and took my time picking out the perfect table for my reclaimed breakfast nook.
The lovely staff at Rooms To Go made ordering and delivery setup a synch, arranging everything in-store and allowing me to pick my delivery date. Within a few days, I received a call and text message that my table was on the way and given a clear time period for delivery on my requested date. Seriously, why doesn’t every business do that?! The delivery crew showed up right on time and not only delivered the table, but assembled and arranged it in the nook within 10 minutes flat. What?! It couldn’t have been easier.
It was not difficult to settle on this stunning table from Rooms To Go. This 5 piece French Market Dining Room setfeatures decorative oval back chairs with gray upholstery and a white distressed finish. The delicately decorative wood details make for a perfectly antique vibe. The beautiful oak veneer table top is the piece-de-resistance, with it’s geometric inlay resembling a flower. I simply couldn’t be happier with this French Market table in my breakfast nook. All that was left was to enjoy the morning sunbeams as they danced along the top of my gorgeous new French Market Dining Table from Rooms To Go…
Coup complete! So to all you frazzled parents looking to reclaim your space, it is possible. Let Rooms To Go’s fabulous selection and wonderful team make the takeover painless and fun. Now if you don’t mind me, I am going to enjoy my morning coffee in my gorgeous new breakfast nook. Good luck!
