The last three years have seen some major shifts in my life. I became a parent, I entered my mid-30s, and I moved to a new state. All three of these things have had a huge impact on my energy levels. I am a sleep-deprived woman with a slowing metabolism and have moved to a state where BBQ and sweet tea are staples at every meal. It is going to be a challenge to reclaim my old energy levels. But I am determined and have been making little, but significant, changes towards my energetic goal. That is why I am swapping out my daily coffee breaks with a protein break and enjoying Jimmy Dean® Protein Packs at HEB.
I am still in the “keeping my resolutions” phase of 2019. I am in desperate need of getting back to my peppy, energetic, pre-toddler self. With the three major shifts in my new life, it is going to be an uphill battle. First, I have a toddler. That means that I live with an anti-sleep, energy-bloodsucking tiny dictator. It’s been three years since I have had a solid 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep or, let us be honest, since I have been able to sit down for longer than 10 minutes. To add insult to injury, literally the day after I turned 35, my metabolism slowed to a pace only rivaled by late 90’s era dial-up. “You’ve got mail!” No Janet, I have hypoglycemia. Gone are the days of mindlessly eating copious calories and living without consequences. And that leads to the cherry on top of this terrible sundae trifecta. Right after I had my daughter, my little family relocated from the busy, bustling (walking everywhere, eating small portions) city of Manhattan, to the “bigger is better” (especially on your plate), drive everywhere so you don’t have to walk, city of Houston. Seriously, even the salads in Texas come in jumbo sizes and are smothered in BBQ sauce. So, as you can see, the odds are stacked against me.
All of these three forces colliding have led to one terrible habit… multiple coffee breaks throughout the day. And when I say coffee break, I mean double-espresso cappuccino with extra whip cream and a side of several chocolate chip cookies. Now I am a self-labeled coffee connoisseur, but my current habit is more like a dependency than a dabble in relaxation. Don’t judge, I am at the level of tired that often only emotional sugar-loading can solve. But that is why I know it is time for changes. Small changes and having easily accessible tools like Jimmy Dean Protein Packs from HEB in my snacking arsenal are going to make all the difference.
If you have not heard of these little packs of snacking delight, then let me introduce you. Jimmy Dean Protein Packs come in three delicious options: Turkey, Almond, and Ham. Each pack comes with an individually wrapped and peeled hardboiled egg, high-quality natural cheeses, and either a meat or nut protein option. All this adds up to a whopping 14g of protein per pack! I know, right?! And best of all, they can be found in the refrigerated section at your local HEB.
So, I am swapping caffeine and sugar for water and protein. And with a new exercise regime, a protein (not coffee!) break is exactly what I need for my mid-day snacking. Best of all, with the three delicious options, I won’t feel at all deprived by reaching for a Jimmy Dean Protein Pack instead of a cookie. And if you also want to join in on this energy snacking journey, there’s only two things you need to do. First, grab a coupon to save $1 on any (1) variety of Jimmy Dean Protein Packs at HEB from 4/1/2019 – 4/28/2019. Second, find a nearby HEB store to get your shop on. So, tell me, what are your energy boosting swaps? Seriously, I need more suggestions so shout them out below!
