Amazing new restaurant alert! If you find yourself in the Houston area, there is a fabulous new restaurant you have to check out. The Tribute at the Houstonian offers up a gorgeously rustic fine cuisine experience inspired by Texas, Louisiana, and Mexico. I got a sneak peek of their menu and wine pairings earlier this week before their grand opening on October 26th and it was absolutely heavenly. My personal favorites were the wood Fried Gulf Oysters with Chorizo Butter and Churros with vlarhona dulce ice cream & spiced hot chocolate. While you’re at it, don’t pass up on a …

Ultimate Holiday Cooking Tool: The Hestan Cue

About once a week, I become overly ambitious in the kitchen. I pick a ridiculously difficult recipe from some Michelin-Star chef’s cookbook, purchase all the ingredients, and then proceed to slaughter the dish, usually burning it into crispy oblivion. And I cook for a living! Why can’t I produce even a semi-edible version of these difficult recipes?! What am I doing wrong?! Well, Hestan Cue has the answer. Hestan Cue is the future of home cooking. It is a three-part system that walks you through and even regulates each step of the recipe process. I know! At this point you’re …

Austin Bites!

If you’re not a native Texan, then there are only a few things you know about the gigantic state. BBQ, Boots, Davy Crockett, and Austin. I had heard tales of the Austin food scene and the magnificence in which it feeds all visitors. So, when I had the opportunity to visit the trendy city, I figured it was my chance to eat my way through all the hype. And yes, I do lead a hard life. With only a day and a grumbling stomach, I went on an all-out food quest and I have one thing to report: I was …

Curtis Stone & the Ocean Spray Bog

The bucket list… most people’s list include things like skydiving and swimming with sharks.  Mine?  Well, mine has more food-centric goals like diving into a tub of jello and eating a full size chocolate sculpture of Marie Antoinette.  So you can imagine my squeals when I received an invite to eat lunch with Curtis Stone in a cranberry bog created by Ocean Spray in Rockafeller Center.  Not only did I get to eat a Thanksgiving themed lunch with Curtis Stone, I got to do it while wading knee deep in a cranberry bog.  This is stuff that foodie dreams are …
