Game day is around the corner and you’re going to need some awesome treats to serve your guests. That’s why today, we’re revisiting one of our most popular game day recipes, Hickory Smoked Chocolate Toffee Bacon. Oh yeah, baby! Get all the rewind details below…
Before we get to the recipe’s nitty gritty, I need to lay something out on the line. I love throwing Big Game Day parties and I am quite the awesome hostess at them. Why? Because I am not a fan of football. I know, burn me at the goal post! My game day hosting fabulousness may defy common logic, but in fact it is quite the opposite. While everyone is glued to the screen, I am thrilled to serve as mixologist, replenish the food table, and bask in the electric energy that my guests exude. I relish in setting up cheeky, themed snack displays that add to the excitement of the big game. Hey, what fun-loving host doesn’t have an unhealthy supply of artificial turf and rustic bottle openers in their craft closet?! Oh, is that just me?
In my opinion, the real key to a good Homegate spread is snacks. People need quick, easy, delicious bites to enhance their viewing experience. Plus, who wants to be slaving away in the kitchen for hours before and during the Big Game, anyway?! Let’s get started, shall we?
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 package of Hickory Smoked Bacon
1 cup of semisweet chocolate chips
½ cup of toffee (chopped)
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and line two cookie sheets with parchment paper. Then lay out the bacon strips on the sheets.
Sprinkle the bacon with the brown sugar. Then place in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. When they have reached your desired crispiness, remove the sheets from the oven and let cool.
Once the bacon is completely cool, use paper towels to dab off any excess oil and then lay them out on a fresh sheet of parchment paper. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave by cooking them in increments of 15 seconds, mixing along the way. Dip the bacon in the chocolate and then place back on the parchment paper.
Sprinkle the chocolate-dipped bacon with the chopped toffee bits. Let the chocolate harden out on the counter for approximately 2 hours or place the treats in the refrigerator to harden (approximately 10-15 minutes). Enjoy!
