I have been keeping a secret from you all year, lovely readers. The past 12 odd months have been all about creating insane recipes. At the beginning of 2018, I challenged myself to get out of my cooking comfort zone and dive headfirst into a tasty (and sometimes burnt-to-a-crisp) adventure. From goat cheese cocktails to boozy marshmallows , I have been quietly pushing the boundaries of traditional flavors and my own skill set. And let me tell you something… it’s been absolutely fantastic! Even when I fail, I have never had so much fun in the kitchen! So you can imagine my elation when JSL Foods challenged me to create a unique recipe using their Twin Dragon Egg Roll Wrappers. A crazy fireworks show of weird ingredients, instantly danced through my head. So without further ado, I present to you my Spicy Salmon Banana Egg Rolls.
Confession time! I have never come anywhere in the vicinity of making an egg roll before this post. I was actually a bit intimidated and honestly came close to chickening out. But then I remembered my secret challenge for the year and decided to just do it. And to my great delight, they were pretty easy to make. Seriously! Those beautiful rolls of crunchy goodness aren’t too complicated, especially if you have Twin Dragon Egg Roll Wrappers in your arsenal. So, with an insane flavor combination in mind, I dove straight in. Twin Dragon Egg Roll Wrappers, jalapeños, cream cheese, smoked salmon, and banana. Boom! An exquisite burst of yumminess. Pairing these seemingly odd ingredients together actually make for a beautiful balance between hot, sweet, and smokey. Let’s walk through the recipe steps together, shall we? First preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Then start assembling the egg rolls. Lay a Twin Dragon Egg Roll Wrapper diagonally. Toward the bottom tip, layer 1 tbs. cream cheese, 3 jalapeño slices, 1 salmon slice, and a banana slice.
Fold that tip over the ingredients and roll tightly to the center of the wrapper. Fold the middle sides in and roll to enclose. Seal the outer tip with a dab of water. Repeat for the rest of the ingredients.
Heat the oil in a large pan to approx. 350°F and fry the egg rolls for approx. 2 minutes. Make sure to flip during frying.
Place the egg rolls on the baking sheet and bake approx. 3-5 minutes. Remove, let cool slightly, and serve warm. Enjoy!
And that’s it! A unique and easily assembled egg roll. You can purchase JSL Foods Twin Dragon products at: Albertsons, Shaw’s, Von’s, Stater Bros, Lucky’s, Food Maxx, Fred Meyer, QFC, Cub Foods, Rainbow Foods, Safeway, Associated Stores, Price Rite, Shop Rite, Winco, Price Chopper and Gelson’s! This post just made me hungry . I love egg rolls but I’ve never made them myself . Doesn’t sound as difficult as I thought it would be . I think banana would be great in an egg roll .

These egg rolls look absolutely delicious. I would have never thought of putting banana inside of an egg roll. Does it calm the spice down a little bit?
The recipe sounds interesting. I am not a huge fan of salmon but I bet my mom would love this.
