One of the amazing perks of my job as a food writer, stylist, and recipe developer is that I am sent foodie samples all the time. Sure, it feels a bit like Christmas morning every time a sample package arrives from a brand, but I also don’t take it lightly. I understand that I am in a unique position and do not want to take it for granted. I am ridiculously lucky that this is my career and I spend my days tasting sweets and testing out new gadgets. The way I see it, I have a responsibility to you as my reader and to the brand as a industry peer to be honest in my reviews of these products. However, it is not in my nature to write negative reviews and besmirch the good name of a hardworking company. So, I have worked out a system. I only accept write reviews and recommend products for the exceptional items. That means, if you see me singing the praises of a product, then it’s something I truly enjoy myself and think it is an industry stand-out. Now that I’ve laid it all out, let’s start my new “Kitchen Wish List” series off with a bang with Crux Kitchen appliances.
Specifically, we need to talk about the Crux 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven and the 2.2lb Touchscreen Air Convection Fryer. These are fantastic holiday gifts for the foodie in your life and here’s why: convenience! I am all for fancy kitchen gadgets like brulee torches and gold-encrusted nutcrackers, but the best sort of gifts are always practical ones. Let’s take a closer look at these two beauties, shall we?
The Crux Air Convection Fryer
I love fried food. But I also love my arteries. So, that’s where an air fryer comes into play. The Crux Air Fryer utilizing high performance heat circulation technology to cook up to 2.2 pounds of food. That’s 2.2 pounds of ‘fried’ donuts, my friends. The best part is that it uses little to no oil to accomplish this fantastic feat. That means that by using the Crux Air Fryer instead of a conventional oil fryer, you’re reducing fat by 77% and calories by 61% on average frozen fries. You can have your fried oreo and eat it too! Not only does this magical appliance have beautiful copper detailing, the digital touchscreen makes it foolproof. The final cherry on top? The frying basket is dishwasher safe. I tip my hat in your general direction, Crux Kitchen. It’s the perfect extravagant holiday gift for the foodie in your life.
A toaster oven is a tried and true staple in my household. That might be a surprise coming from a professional recipe developer and would likely be looked down upon by professionals in the foodie industry. Why? Because nothing should come between a cook and their oven. I get it. But if you have a rambunctious toddler like me, then there’s something reassuringly safe about having a mini oven on the counter, out of munchkin-arm length. And to be honest, I don’t want to have to start up my large oven just to toast a sandwich for lunch. I’m equally lazy and environmentally-conscious like that. So with all that being said, I am a bit obsessed with the Crux 6-slice Convection Toaster Oven. It is sleek, compact, and oh-so practical. Seriously, that copper detailing on the door handle makes my heart happy. This little beauty has a prime real estate on my precious kitchen counter and here’s why: external removable tray, 3 position grill rack, heating up to 450F, effortless function options, and auto shut-off timer. Get it and send me a ‘thank you’ note.
Crux Kitchen appliances are exclusively sold at Macy’s, so get on it. And now that I’ve given you two fantastic, tried-and-true holiday gifting options, I fully expect to receive a Christmas party invitation in the mail. I’ll bring cookies and booze.
