Earlier this season, I kicked off the summer with a little blog post series I like to call “What’s my favorite Rosé?” It’s a part-informative, part-self indulgent series that (thankfully) many of you have requested. Late June, I introduced you to the delectable wine by Mathilde Chapoutier and promised to post more about this season’s best rosés. I take my promises very seriously. So seriously, in fact, that I have taken it upon myself to sample as many rosés I can get my hands on. I know, it’s a tough life. So without further ado, I present to you my second pick for the Summer’s best rosé: Sofia Brut Rosé.
A brut rosé, you say?! Oh yes indeed, my friends. It’s got all the pretty staples of a rosé, with the bubbly decadence of a brut. Named for Sofia Coppola of the Francis Ford Coppola Winery and member of Hollywood royalty, the wine is wonderfully complex. Spiced berry accents are laced with tea leaves and cloves. The fruity flavors of tart red currants, pomegranate, strawberries, and peaches delightfully linger on the tongue, giving the an almost sweet honey aftertaste. “This 2016 Sofia Brut Rosé is styled after my favorite sparkling Rosés of Loire and Alsace in France,” says Sofia Coppola. “I spend a lot of time in France and have always loved sparkling rosé so am happy to add this to the line.”
On top of the excellent quality of the wine, the presentation itself is impeccable and perfect for a hostess gift or sophisticated beach dwelling. Unusually, the Sofia Brut Rosé comes in two options: bottled or canned. The 750ml bottles are wrapped in clear cellophane, in prime display of the gorgeous bottle. The cans are single servings and come equipped with straws. Seriously, the cans are pure genius.
There it is, my second pick for the summer’s best rosé. Make sure to pick up a case (or two) of this delectable bubbly and let me know how you plan to enjoy it during the warm weather. On a final note, I have yet to taste a Francis Ford Coppola Winery product I do not love. They’re always a sure bet for a fabulous glass of wine! Cheers, friends!

We are also trying to sample as many rosés as we can get our hands on! We tend to favor a dry rosé but love trying anything that comes in a can.

Gorgeous photos — I love how romantic and whimsical they all look! We are quite limited for wine options in my state (Utah) but I will have to inquire at our wine store where I might find this. I love a great rose.

Oh my goodness, this brut rose is a must have for every fashion lady. And its so instagram worthy 🙂 I like how sleek it is packaged. And 12% alcohol is tolerable.

I never thought much about wine in cans (apart from ease of access), but it seems that the designer has put a lot of thought into designing this one! So pretty it just wants you to reach for it! I wouldn’t mind giving this a go.

I have to admit that when canned wines started coming out, I was completely skeptical. A wine-lover myself- I’m even skeptical of screw tops! I was surprised to see that the canned versions had no affect on the taste or quality of the wine. I’ve just started really giving Rosés a try and am pretty happy with the results! I’ll have to try this one.
I felt the same way. And I will be totally honest, I still prefer bottled over canned. However, the quality and convenience of the canned wine or champagne is definitely a plus. Let me know what you think if you try the Sofia Brut Rose in canned form!
