Champagne Picnic Guide

We currently find ourselves in the lull between Spring and Summer. That means we have a limited time to comfortably sit outside and enjoy the nice weather. So I suggest you find an ideal setting, fill your basket with a French loaf and some cheese, and pick up one of these bubbly bottles from our Champagne Picnic Guide:

Affordable: Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte

This baby should only set you back about $60 and you’ll be getting a fabulous return on your “investment”.  A blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Noir, not only will it pair well with the cheeses you’ve stocked in your picnic basket, it’ll be sure to impress your lunch date.

Moderate:  Billecart-Salmon Cuvee Nicolas Francois

If you’re looking to spend a bit more on the bubbly (say about $180), then this is the one for you.  A Pino Noir Chardonnay, a flute of this golden liquid will fill the air with fruit and floral aromas.  Perfectly paired with a warm brioche and a bit of orange marmalade, you’ll be glad you brought this along for your romantic adventure.

Splurge:  Taittinger’s Comtes De Champagne Rose

If you’re anything like me, then a picnic isn’t complete without a delicious rosé!  Coming in at about $230 a bottle, this little beauty is not for the faint-hearted.  Made with a mix of Grand Cru grapes from Côte des Blancs and exceptional Pinot Noir from Montagne de Reimsand.  Extra bonus points if you invite me along on your picnic… I’ve been dying to get a sip of this vintage! (I’ll be on my best behavior, I swear!).
