Food and travel go hand-in-hand. Part of the cultural and exploratory experience of visiting a new place is trying the local fare. When you think of Texas, barbecue comes to mind. Maine, lobster. Vermont, cheese. And Vegas? Clearly the cocktails. Today’s post celebrates the boozy destination with my signature cocktail recipe, The Pomegranate Kiss, and some charity.
To honor the city’s upcoming fundraiser, For the Love Of Cocktails, I’m giving up my top secret, go-to killer drink recipe, The Pomegranate Kiss Cocktail. Now, before I get to the recipe, let me tell you about the lovely event that inspired this oversharing. For The Love Of Cocktails is Vegas’ largest cocktail celebration of the year. Taking place in the spring, some of the finest mixologists, cocktail bars, and chefs come together to serve their greatest creations during the 72-hour fundraiser for breast cancer awareness. Booze and charity? Sounds like a winning combination, if you ask me. I am remise to say that I will not be attending the festivities this year, but I hope that if you are in the Vegas area you can attend and report back (book your trip here!). And for your sake, my wanderlusting reader, I hope The Roosevelt Room will be there… I hear their drinks are to die for. So, get more information here and mix up a pre-travel celebratory batch of my Pomegranate Kiss Cocktail:
THE POMEGRANATE KISS COCKTAIL
INGREDIENTS:
2 ounces of gin
1/2 ounce of elderflower liqueur
1/2 ounce of anise liqueur
Bottle of Rosé
Dash of pomegranate juice
Pomegranate seeds (garnish)
DIRECTIONS:
I will be there in spirit this spring, but I truly hope some of you can make it to support this great cause!
