Due to a fortunate turn of events, this is shaping up to be a booze-filled couple of weeks on the blog. I did consider moving around the schedule a bit and spacing them out over the next few months. But why deprive you of such scrumptious libations?! Plus, I am a firm believer of the ancient philosophies of ‘more is more’ and ‘why the heck not?’ So, with that said, let’s get to the third alcohol post in a row. The Lemon Coconut Moscow Mule, my friends.
This recipe was completely inspired by the amazing copper mugs by Advanced Mixology. Fun fact: In my household, all cold beverages are served in these copper mugs. Everything from a chilled cocktail to a frigid cup of water is presented in all their copper gloriousness. Why? They are gorgeous and easy to clean. I also just so happen to be married to a Russian and these just so happen to be the cup of his childhood (fond memories!). But the main reason is that they keep the liquids cold for much longer than the average glass. Copper conducts cold so efficiently, that the low temperature spreads evenly throughout the mug’s surface. The lovely metal is then able to retain the cold for much longer periods than the average cup. Thank you, Science. Let’s get to it…
LEMON COCONUT MOSCOW MULE
INGREDIENTS:
2 ounce of vodka
1 1/2 ounces of coconut rum
1/2 ounce of lemon juice
Preserved lemon (sliced for garnish)
Dried coconut (sliced for garnish)
Ice
DIRECTIONS:
Now, I must caution you… these babies are deceptively strong. The alcohol is completely masked by the coconut, lemon, and ginger flavors, so sip slowly and enjoy. Special thanks to Advanced Mixology for teaming up with us on this post!
