The fondue is laid out to perfection – kebabs of strawberries, pound cake, and marshmallows await their warm dip into a chocolate bath. The candles are lit, filling the room with a glow that breathes romance. Marvin Gaye softly serenades you as you spray on an alluring scent. The mood is all set, except for one thing. The drink. Well calm your yearning heart, I’ve got your Valentines libations covered. I present to you the Coconut Lingonberry Margarita.
A traditionally prepared margarita, the cocktail is initially light and sweet. But don’t be deceived, it ends with a complex and deceptively strong kick that is sure to leave your beloved swooning. Flavors of orange, elderflower, coconut, and lingonberry dance on your tongue, guising the robust tequila below.
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 ounces of Tequila (I recommend Milagro Tequila)
3/4 ounces of Triple Sec
1/2 ounces of Elderflower Liqueur
1 teaspoon of Cream of Coconut
1 tablespoon of rock candy (crushed)
Lingonberry Juice
Ice
DIRECTIONS:
Some of you might be thinking right about now: ‘Where in the world am I going to find lingonberry juice?!’ Well, you can either harvest it from the lingonberry tree in your garden, like Martha Stewart would, or you can buy a box of it at the good ol’ trusty IKEA store. Also, I have to pause for a minute and reflect on the gorgeousness of the Milagro Tequila bottle. The photo does not do the internal glass agave sculpture, so I highly recommend observing one of these babies in person. Alright, back to the recipe. Make sure to crush the rock candy into small, dusty pieces.
Rub a sliced lime or lemon along the rim of a coup glass.
Garnish the coup glass with the crushed rock candy.
Put the tequila, triple sec, elderflower liqueur, and cream of coconut in a shaker with an ice cube.
Shake vigorously and then strain into the coup glass.
Top with the lingonberry juice and lightly mix with a bar spoon.
An arrow through the heart of your tastebuds! Have a safe and sexy Valentine’s Day, my friends.
