With the unseasonably warm temperatures this winter, one can’t help but feel a little wanting in the cold weather festivities. It’s simply too hot to enjoy hot cocoa by the fire, while donning your chunky cable knit sweater socks. So let’s cheat a bit and take a cue from today’s summer wedding in Charleston… spicey frozen hot chocolate. Make the best of the atmosphere by trying out this recipe and learn more about the event that inspired it. Photographer Priscilla Thomas introduces us to this happy couple:
This romance began during a night out with friends and may have entailed lighting their hands on fire. – to clarify, the couple took a Statue of Liberty shot. Brittany’s and Mark’s fiery beginning led to an even hotter wedding. Their August nuptials were held on one of the hottest days of summer with the heat index reaching 106. But scorching weather didn’t stop the celebration. The couple wanted a light and fresh design and pulled from summer hues of mint green and white. Tablescapes includes bountiful bouquets of white hydrangea and roses. The bride even swapped veil for florals in her hair. Southern features included sugar magnolias on the cake and offering a palmetto rose as a keepsake for guests. After a ceremony at the First Baptist Church of Charleston, Brittany and Mark headed to the William Aiken House to dine on cuisine by FISH and rock out to The Mighty Kicks. After a whirlwind weekend having a destination wedding in Charleston, they boarded a plane to Paris to start their next adventure as wife and husband.
