Holiday Spice Cake Recipe

When you’re getting hitched in the winter of Utah, you know it’s going to be cold.  So that’s why Elli and Conrad went with the flow and brilliantly married in winter wonderland style.  Playing up the inevitable snow and chilly temperatures, they fashioned their day with snowflakes and ornaments.  And with an awe-inspiring dessert table to match, you might find yourself pining after your own cold-weathered nuptials.  So cozy up to your sweetie and enjoy this sweetly chilly affair… and while you’re at it, bake up our Holiday Spice Cake recipe to match.

  1. 1/2 cup of apple sauce
  2. 2 cups of flour
  3. 3/4 cup of confectioners’ sugar
  4. 1 cup of butter (melted)
  5. 3 eggs
  6. 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  7. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  8. 1/2 tablespoon ground nutmeg
  9. 1/2 tablespoon ground allspice

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease an 8 x 8 inch or 9 inch diameter cake pan and set aside.
  2. In a stand mixer, combine all of the ingredients. Mix thoroughly until the batter is smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the cake pan. Place in the oven and bake for approximately 45 minutes or until fully cooked. Remove from the oven and let cool.
  4. Once the cake is completely cooled and removed from the cake pan, generously sprinkle extra confectioners’ sugar on top to your liking or frost. Enjoy!
