Hi, my name is Sam and I am a Austen-holic. *Hi, Sam* That’s right, I am an utter Jane Austen fanatic and read her classic tale Pride & Prejudice at least once a year. And you know what? I’m not ashamed of it. If loving Mr. Darcy is wrong, then I don’t want to be right! So, you can imagine my utter delight (and unladylike squeals) when I saw today’s photos. Photographer Gayle Driver introduces us to the special event designer behind this delightful shoot:
This lovely Pride & Prejudice themed styled shoot was designed by my wonderful and creative daughter-in-law, Brooke Driver. She recently started her own wedding/event planning business called North Star Events and is so excited about getting started with this new venture of hers. This was a fun shoot for me for several reasons…one is that it took place right here at my house in our front field and woods. Second, the lovely bride & groom models are my daughter-in-law, Brooke and my son, Clark.
Event designer Brooke Driver gives us insight into the day’s inspiration:
Pride & Prejudice is undoubtedly one of my favorite stories. And it’s not because it is incredibly quotable or even because it’s desperately romantic. I love it because it is about true soul mates – two flawed, but perfectly complementary people inexorably drawn to each other. The message is close to my heart and central to my philosophy as a planner. No one is perfect, and if we were, love wouldn’t hold much weight. Real romance isn’t riding off in to the sunset after 3 perfect dates. True romance is committing to love your spouse through each argument, mistake and misunderstanding. It’s forgiving each other and remembering every day how lucky you are to have found your perfectly imperfect soul mate.
I am incredibly grateful to the sweet vendors that helped make this shoot a reality. They were all so incredible to work with and were able to take my vision and run with it! I was thrilled with the beautiful brie bites with raspberry puree glaze and the elegant cucumber sandwiches from Scrumptious Suppers. Not only was the food a delicious treat after the shoot, it photographed so beautifully and fit the English Tea feel perfectly. I loved creating the simple toss cones from the pages of the book. I wanted to incorporate Elizabeth’s and Darcy’s actual words throughout the shoot- to create a physical space that reflected not only the look and feel of the period, but the enchanting beauty of their love story. I hope you enjoy these lovely pictures from the Pride & Prejudice shoot!
