Today I’m exited to share with you a new take on a classic theme… the swan baby shower! With it’s dominance in the 1950’s and 60’s, the swan symbol often accompanied newborn celebrations. I personally have always loved this retro theme! So, I was thrilled to receive today’s submission from one of my favorite bakers – designers – all around talented company, Two Prince Bakery Theater. Tackling the theme with a fresh take, Dorangela of Two Prince, walks us through the fabulous festivities:
This floral swan baby shower was inspired by a beautiful invitation from Tiny Prints that has a delicate floral wreath on it. I loved how simple it was and adding a swan gave it some whimsy. The floral theme is carried throughout in such elements as the handmade floral chandelier, floral crowns, floral topped cake and even edible flowers on the layered gruyere and apple field green salad. Hundreds of handmade watercolor paper flowers were custom made to match the paper suite.
Swan details are also carried out in very subtle ways to maintain the softness of this baby shower. There are vintage swan cigar holders that we used as cake pop stands; a handmade silk and feather sawn backdrop over the dessert table; swan embellished mason drinking jars as party favors; custom swan cookies at each plate setting; a swan centerpiece filled with handmade paper flowers.
I wanted this baby shower to be sophisticated, bright and fun. A few details such as the gold blocks that spell BABY as well as the hand painted cookies are subtle enough to let you know that it’s a baby shower, while still maintaining the sophistication of the party. The touches of gold bring a richness to this party and are carefully chosen – from the vintage gold swans to the 24kt gold plated place settings.
The cake and desserts are all beautifully done in shades of yellow, pink, gold, and green. Cake truffles and cake pops are pink on the inside, perfect for a gender reveal.
The clothes worn, as well as the floral crowns tie in beautifully with the color palette and style of the shower. The baby is wearing a beautiful handmade white tulle dress depicting our swan.
